We are a group of certified tour guides under the official Mexican norm NOM-08-TUR-2002. We were very fortunate to be born in this beautiful Oaxaca land, living surrounded by special celebrations, traditions, a lot of history, art and delicious food since we were children. We are so happy to share our cultural heritage and native roots to the world, offering customized tours according to your tastes and preferences in clean, spacious and comfortable cars. Our grandparents taught us the sun rises for everyone in Oaxaca, that’s the reason we have an important feeling of helping our people, visiting indigenous families, small workshops with an amazing work, to support the local economy and to offer more than a tour, a great experience. Cooking classes

This is quite an experience full of everything. Learn more about the Oaxacan cuisine, get a typical apron, enjoy cooking and eating delicious meals with a traditional cook. The adventure starts full of colors and smells, buying the ingredients in a market, be witness of the real life style of Oaxaca. After that, we visit a local family to prepare tortillas, a traditional Mole, soups, sauces and more.

¡Hola! Soy Ivii, nací en la Costa oaxaqueña cerca de la brisa del mar, con raíces orgullosamente Afromexicanas. Soy Nutrióloga de profesión, apasionada por la vida, enamorada de mi cultura y feliz de ser tu anfitriona en Oaxaca.

Mi tour está diseñado en reconocimiento a la Mujer Oaxaqueña, visitando exclusivamente talleres de Mujeres, sin embargo, todos son bienvenidos a vivir esta bonita experiencia. Conoceremos la gran historia inspiradora de cada una de ellas, recibiéndonos en sus casas y talleres para compartirnos su trabajo, sus inicios y todo el camino que las ha llevado hasta donde están.

I T I N E R A R I O

Visitaremos cuatro pueblos diferentes:

SAN MARTIN TILCAJETE: Conoceremos la elaboración de la artesanía más popular de Oaxaca, los alebrijes. Pintarás tu propio alebrije y purificarás tu energía con el incienso de copal que la maestra artesana nos brindará en este taller.

SANTO TOMAS JALIETZA: Visitaremos un taller familiar para conocer los textiles elaborados en telar de cintura; Este grupo de hermanas que después de dedicarse a la crianza de animales domésticos, ahora se han ganado galardones a nivel nacional con sus prendas tan únicas.

LA HORA FELIZ: Almorzaremos en una casa local, donde una oaxaqueña cocinará exclusivamente para nosotros ¡Habrá tortillas al comal!

SANTA ANA ZEGACHE: Taller de espejos, donde las maestras elaboran marcos con hoja de oro y plata, incluso su gran trabajo las ha llevado a participar en la restauración de pinturas de templos importantes en Oaxaca y su comunidad.

SANTA CATARINA MINAS: Recorreremos este Palenque tradicional para conocer el proceso ancestral para la elaboración del Mezcal. Haremos la cata de mezcal y veremos la puesta del sol, tomadas de la mano manifestaremos nuestras metas, propósitos, deseos, gratitud y más decretaremos al aire libre con la madre Tierra de testigo.

Esta es la primera y única experiencia en Oaxaca dedicada al Empoderamiento de la Mujer, con la cual se pretende dar a conocer nuestras raíces, cultura, promover a nuestras artesanas y apoyar directamente la economía de estas familias.


Natural dyes workshop

Teotitlán del Valle is a town with a special tradition of weaving textiles, creating beautiful designs on the rugs. The magic comes when they mixe colors, using familiar and ancient recipes. Experience a day with a local family, enjoy dying cotton threads, clothes with natural and eco-friendly pigments.

Includes:

  • An artisan will be teaching you the ancient recipes they have used for several years, some of them are secret family recipes.
  • Wool
  • Skeins for dyeing
  • Cochineal to grind
  • Hard paste of Indigo Plant
  • Dyeing demonstrations with plants and herbs.

Traditional chocolate workshop

If you love chocolate, you will love this!

We take you to a town outside of Oaxaca city. Enjoy buying your favorite piece of bread in a market and learn the process to prepare hot chocolate since the beginning to the end. Clean the Cocoa seeds, toast them on a traditional comal, grind the cocoa on a Metate stone, make it into a chocolate bar or ball, take it to the fire and enjoy it in a cup, or two, or three, as many as you want!

Monte Alban

The most important archeological site of Oaxaca built by “The people from the clouds” the zapotec people in the year of 800 B.C

San Bartolo Coyotepec

The attraction of this town is the beautiful black pottery. It is incredible how they craft these clay pieces just by using the hands, no steering wheel, machines neither. We visit a local workshop to live the experience.

San Martin Tilcajete

The most famous handicraft of Oaxaca is made here, “Los Alebrijes” The original Alebrijes are from Mexico city, but in Oaxaca they took the original idea to another level Carving and painting the animals with zapotec designs. Visiting a workshop in this town is magical and mysterious, you can even know what your spiritual animal is. These colorful and crazy creatures are definitely something you can not miss.

Santo Tomas Jalietza

The traditions of weaving around Oaxaca started here. In this community we can visit the handicraft market where you can see local ladies working with the back strap loom, manufacturing purses, shoulder bags, table runners, tablecloths, belts, straps and bracelets.

San Antonino de Castillo

(Optional) There is a special artisan in this town who works with red clay. Our friend Jose Antonio is blind but he has eyes on his both hands like he said. Making beautiful pieces for decoration or use, his favorite ones are mermaids of different sizes.

Mitla

After Monte Alban was abandoned, Mitla became the most important town around Oaxaca valley. Its unique architecture with geometric designs on the wall make this Archeological site a beautiful place to visit.

Tule Tree

You won't believe how old is this tree and guess what? It's the widest tree in World!

Tlacochahuaya

Located in a zapotec town which was called Cochicahuala “The warrior who fights at night” in the past, this monastery from the XVI century was built by the most important religious order in Oaxaca, the dominicans. The interior of the temple was painted with beautiful designs and natural pigments by the natives. They still celebrate masses playing an old Organ from the XVII century on special occasions.

Hierve el Agua

If you like nature, you will love this place. They are not hot springs, the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, is complex of rock formations. Just like stalactites are formed, the fresh water coming from the springs at the top of two Cliffs, drains all the way down creating these white rock formations thanks to all the minerals. This is the only place we are not allowed to guide you, due to the government regime of these communities. We can take you there and recommend a local guide to explore around.

YAGUL

Unknown for most of the visitor. This archeological site houses the second largest “Ball game” court in mesoamerica, just after ChichénItzá. Located on the top of a small mountain, Yagul has a great view, around its valley were found the first “seeds” of America.
